Agile in Government
14 January 2024
Today 'agile' is no longer a buzzword designed only for software development teams. From building spacecraft to manufacturing, some of the largest and most complex organisations in the world are using agile ways of working to deliver better outcomes, respond to change, improve quality, foster more productive and happier teams, and reduce risk. So, how can government agencies adopt this approach to deliver more and better services to their constituents?
Craig Smith first encountered agile as a software developer at Suncorp, where sticky notes and fast feedback loops quickly won him over. He soon became a key driver of agile culture there, later coaching teams at the Australian Department of Home Affairs, GMHBA Limited, and Unbound DNA. Now a lead trainer at Skills Development Group, Craig delivers agile training, coaches organisations through transformation, and helps teams unlock their potential. He’s also Agile Editor at InfoQ, a board member of the Agile Alliance, and co-host of The Agile Revolution podcast - bringing his passion for agile and community to a global audience.
